![]() ![]() If you want a late '80s or early '90s digital sound they are both ideal, and I don't really know of any other VSTs (Romplers excluded) that cover the same territory. The M1 and Wavestation are the two that really stand out to me. Probably the M1 because its presets are organised nicely, whereas the Wavestation's are all jumbled together. The Wavestation covers very similar sonic territory to the M1, and I don't know which I would recommend. Some synthwave producers who I know with certainty use the M1 are Mitch Murder, Dynatron and VHS Glitch. It is very much a workstation synth designed for using presets, rather than a synth for designing your own patches. The VST ships with every expansion ever made for the M1, so you'll never be short of presets to explore. The type of sounds you can't make convincingly with an analog synth. It excels at things like pianos, slap basses, choirs, guitars, bells etc. This video, via myVST, demos Augur -a free VST for Windows that was. ![]() I picked it up in the sale, so it hasn't gotten a lot of use yet, but I like it. The Mono/Poly is more versatile, since it has two oscillators and more on board effects. But one of them is that bass patch, which many people would consider justifies the purchase. Also, if you're a preset user rather than a sound designer then it's worth noting that it only ships with 32 presets. I am sure the Polysix is good, but honestly the only thing I have ever used it for is that bass patch, and only once. ![]() So here's my 2 cents on the Korg synths I own.
